Easy Lasagne Recipe

Ingredients Minced beef - 700g
Bacon - 100g
Nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
Beef stock - 300 ml
Egg Lasagne sheets - 200g
Mozarella cheese - 100g

For tomato sauce:
Onion -1
Garlic - 3 cloves
Carrot - 1
Tomato puree - 2 Tbsp
Canned plum tomatoes - 400g
Red wine vinegar - 3 Tbsp
Dried Basil - 1 Tsp

For the white sauce:
Butter -50g
Plain flour - 50g
Milk - 300ml

Olive Oil - 3 Tbsp
Salt - to taste
Cooking InstructionsTo make white sauce:
Melt the butter in a pan. Add the plain flour and mix well. Whisk in the milk slowly. Bring to boil and simmer gently to reduce to a smooth paste like mixture that coats on to a wooden spoon. Keep aside.
To make home-made tomato sauce:
Chop the onions, carrots and garlic. Heat 2 Tbsp oil and add the chopped onions first. After few minutes add the garlic and carrots. Saute well until onions soften. Add the tomato puree and red wine vinegar. Mix well. After few minutes add the plum tomatoes. Bring to boil and simmer until its is reduced to one third. Add the basil. Mix well and keep aside.

In a pan brown the beef adding one Tbsp oil. When the beef is browned, add chopped bacon. Now add the nutmeg and beef stock and salt to taste. Mix well and cook for five minutes in medium heat. Now add the home-made tomato sauce. Mix well and bring to boil. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.Keep aside.

Lightly grease the baking tray with oil. Add half of the meat mixture and spread evenly. Place a layer of lasagne sheets to cover this. Add half of the white sauce on top of this. Add the remaining meat mixture, followed by lasagne sheets and then the remaining white sauce. Shred the mozarella into thin strips and spread them evenly on the very top. Preheat the oven to 170 degree (160 for fan oven). Place the baking tray in the middle and bake for about 45 minutes or till the top starts to brown.
