IngredientsRava (Course grained Semolina) - 2 Cups
Shallots (Small Onions) - 5 (chopped)
Green Chillies - 3 (chopped)
Ginger - 1 " piece (finely chopped)
Curry Leaves - A sprig
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Oil or ghee - 3 tbsp
Salt - As Required
Water - 2 cups
Cooking InstructionsFry the rava in a pan stirring continuously until it turns light brown. Remove from fire. Add oil or ghee in the pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add the onions, chopped green chilli, chopped ginger and curry leaves. Saute till the onions become tender. Add two cups of water and a little salt and allow it to boil. Add the fried rava into the boiling water stirring continuously, so that no lumps are formed. Cover the pan and cook on low heat. Check in between and if the uppumavu is too dry add some ghee or sprinkle some water. Also stir after every 3 minutes to prevent sticking to bottom. Cook till uppuma is soft and lump free. Serve hot with Banana or Chutney or any other side dish.Photos (Click to enlarge) :
