Chicken Jalfrezi Recipe

Ingredients Chicken breast - 500g

For marinating chicken:
Turmeric powder - 1/2 Tsp
Chilli powder - 1 Tsp
Cumin powder - 1/2 Tsp
Salt - to taste

For making jalfrezi sauce:
Onion - 2 large
Garlic - 4 cloves
Ginger - 1 inch piece
Green chillies - 4
Green peppers - 2
Tomatoes - 3
Cumin powder - 1 Tsp
Coriander powder - 1 Tbsp
Garam masala - 2 Tsp
Water - 1/2 cup
Salt to taste

For garnishing
Lemon juice - 1 Tsp
Coriander leaves - a bunch


Oil - 4 Tbsp
Cooking InstructionsCut the chicken breast in to small bite sized chunks. Marinate the chicken with turmeric powder, chilli powder cumin powder and salt and keep for half an hour. Finely chop the onions, ginger, garlic, green chillies and tomatoes. Heat half of the oil in a pan. Add ginger, garlic and half of the chopped onions. Saute well in medium heat for about 5 minutes. Add the coriander powder and sauté for another 3 minutes. Add the garam masala and the tomatoes. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 5 minutes. Allow this mixture to cool and then blend it into a fine paste in a blender. Now heat the remaining oil in a pan and fry the marinated chicken in medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes turning once in between so that the chicken is cooked. Add the remaining onions, green chillies and peppers and sauté until onions are soft. Add the jalfrezi sauce from the blender. (If you want to thin down the sauce you may add bit more water).Reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes. Garnish with lemon juice and coriander leaves. Serve hot with naan or rice.
