1. Fish - 400gm, cleaned
2. Coconut oil – 2 Tsp
3. Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tsp
4. Mustard - 1/4 tsp
5. Tomato - 2, chopped
6. Green chili-2
7. Garlic-5 pods, mashed
8. Ginger-1 inch pc, mashed
9.Chili powder – 1 tsp
10. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
11. Salt - to taste
12. Water - 1 ˝ cup
13. Tamarind - lemon sized ball
1. Heat coconut oil in a vessel and sauté fenugreek and mustard in it.
2. Add the tomato, green chili, garlic and ginger to it and sauté well.
3. Then add the chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, water and tamarind to it and mix all the ingredients well and heat it for some time.
4. Then add the cleaned fish to it and cook it for 5 to 10min.
5. Take it from flame and serve it with kanji or rice.
Note: You can use almost any type of fish to make this dish. Some of the most common fish used for this recipe are sole fish (maanthal), sardine (matthi), pomphret (aavoli), seer fish (ayakkoora), prawn
