Naadan Meen Curry (Fish curry with coconut) Recipe

Ingredients Fish - 1/2 kg (eg: King fish,Pomfret,Tilapia etc)
Small Onions - 5
Green Chilly - 4
Ginger - 1inch piece
Garlic - 3 pods
Grated coconut - 1 cup
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Chilly powder - 1 tbsp
Curry leaves - a few
Oil, salt as required
Tamarind - 1 lemon size
(If you are using valampuli dissolve one lemon size in 1 cup water (Southern Kerala style). Alternatively you can put 2 or 3 kodampuli pieces in the curry (Northern Kerala style).
Cooking InstructionsClean wash and cut the fish. Ground the coconut, small onions, green chillies, curry leaves, ginger, garlic, turmeric powder, chilly powder and salt adding a little water. Add the ground paste and 1 cup of tamarind water to a suitable vessel and cook in medium fire with closed lid till it boils.
(If you are using valampuli dissolve one lemon size in 1 cup water (Southern Kerala style). Alternatively you can put 2 or 3 kodampuli pieces in the curry (Northern Kerala style).
(Traditionally a manchatti is used; you may use any suitable pan with lid).
Remove the lid and add the fish pieces. Add more water if needed. Cook with closed lid till fish is tender.

Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add this seasoning to the curry.
Naadan style Kerala fish curry is ready. Serve it hot with rice / kappa.
