Unakka Chemmeen(dried prawns) - 100g
Grated coconut (thenga chirakiyathu) - 1/2 coconut (1 muri )
Jeerakam (cummin) - 1/2 teaspoon
Shallots (chuvannulli) - 3
Sugar - 1/4 teaspoon
Ginger - 1/2inch piece
Green chilli - 5
Chilli powder - 1 table spoon
Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Salt - as per taste
Tamarind juice - as per taste
Curry leaves - few
To garnish, you need the following:
Coconut oil - 1 tablespoon
Shallots(kunjulli) -10 (small circle pieces)(varuthidan)
Peel, devein and clean the prawns, then Wash it two three times thoroughly.
Then fry the prawn and keep aside.
Grind coconut, cummin, three shallots and sugar into a very smooth paste and keep aside
Cut ginger into small pieces.
Cut green chillis into two pieces.
Mix the fried prawns, ginger, green chillis and paste of coconut, cumin and shallot (mun chatty or mud vessel will be ideal).
Pour sufficient quantity of tamarind juice and water.
Add salt as per taste and boil it for 5-10 minutes.
Put curry leaves and turnoff the flame.
Fry the remaining shallots in coconut oil and then add it to the curry.
