IngredientsMilk - 6 cups
Chemba rice (Red rice) - 1/2 cup
Sugar - 1 cup

Optional
Cardamon powder - 1/2 tsp
Cooking InstructionsWash the rice, drain and keep aside. Boil the milk in a heavy bottomed vessel. Add the rice, sugar, cardamom powder and keep in medium heat stirring in between for about 10 minutes. Reduce the flame and keep in simmer for about 30 to 40 minutes with closed lid. Check for sweetness, add more sugar if needed. Occassionally lift the lid and stir the payasam. After about 30-40 minutes, rice is properly cooked, milk is reduced in volume and payasam is ready to be served.Photos (Click to enlarge) :
