Wheat grain (polished) – 1 kg (soaked in 5 cup water for 5-6 hours)
Mutton fat - 250 gm
Coconut milk – 1 cup
Small onion – 50 gm
Raisin – 25 gm
Cashew nut – 25 gm
Cardamom powder – 1 table spoon
Ghee – ½ cup
Salt – to taste
Cook the wheat grain along with water, mutton fat and salt on medium flame for around 30 minutes in a cooker.
Open the lid and smash the wheat with a big spoon thoroughly.
Add coconut milk and mix well , add cardamom powder to it.
Heat ghee in a pan and add onion. When it turns brown, add cashew and raisin.
Garnish with the fried onions, cashews and raisins and serve.
Note : Aleesa is a Malabari dish and is served for weddings and Ramzan as an appetizer. It is similar to the dish Haleem.
