IngredientsPrawns (peeled) - 500g
Onions - 2
Tomato - 1
Green chilly - 4
Chilly powder - 1 tbsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Garam masala - 2 tsp
Ginger - 1 inch piece
Garlic pods - 4
Lentils - 250 gm
Yoghurt - 2 tbsp
Coriander leaves - a bunch
Salt to taste
Oil as required
Cooking InstructionsCook the lentils separately adding salt and water and 1/4 tsp turmeric powder. Chop the onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic and green chillies finely. Heat oil in a pan and add the onions. Saute for about 3 minutes and add the ginger, garlic and green chillies. Saute for another 3 minutes and add the remaining turmeric powder. Mix well and add the coriander powder and chilly powder. Saute for some more time till the raw smell of spices go away. Now add the chopped tomato. Cook for sometime till the tomatoes have blend in. Sprinkle the garam masala and mix well. Now add the cooked lentils and prawns and add more water if needed. Cook with closed lid in medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent from sticking to bottom. Now add the yoghurt and mix well. Check for salt and add more if required. Cook in simmer for 5-7 minutes.
Prawn dhansak goes well with Pulao rice.
