Nutty Bread Halwa Recipe

Ingredients Bread slices 10 to 15
Ghee 100 gms
Milk litre
Sugar 250 gms
Almonds 10 15
Cashews 10 15
Green Cardamom 4 to 5
Pistachios 5 10
Cooking InstructionsCut bread into cubes and fry them in ghee in a sauce pan. You can use both white and brown bread for making this halwa. Once the bread crumbs turn brown, pour milk into the pan, mix well and let the bread crumbs break down and dissolve in milk to form a smooth mixture. Add sugar to this mixture, mix well and keep stirring for some time and then let it simmer. Grind 10 cashews, 6 to 7 pistachios, 10 almonds and cardamom in to a coarse powder and add it to the simmering mixture in the pan. Stir well at high flame for 5 mins to mix all the ingredients. Then keep stirring at low flame adding more ghee if needed to avoid the halwa sticking to the pan. Let all moisture evaporate completely.

If needed, transfer the contents of the pan to a microwave-safe bowl and microwave it for 5 to 10 mins with frequent stirring to totally drive moisture out. Yummy bread halwa is now ready; garnish with fried cashews and almonds and serve hot or cold!

PS: Feel free to adjust the amount of sugar and ghee used according to your taste.
