Chakka Thoran Recipe

1. Raw jackfruit (sliced into small pieces) - 1 cup
2. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
3. Chili powder - 1/2 tsp
4. Salt - to taste
5. Water - 1/2 cup
6. Mustard - 1/4 tsp
7. Curry leaves – a few
8. Coconut oil – 1 tsp
1. Cook the chopped raw jackfruit along with turmeric powder, chili powder, salt and water in a pan.
2. Cook in medium flame untill the water drains. Stir the mixture at intervals so that it doesn’t stick to the bottom.
3. Heat coconut oil in another pan and splutter the mustard and curry leaves in it.
4. Once the water in the jackfruit mixture completely disappears, pour the mustard and curry leaves over it and remove from flame.
It’s a naadan recipe of Kerala. It’s mainly served with rice or kanji as a side dish.
