Easy Tomato Rasam Recipe

Ingredients Shallots - 3
Ginger - small piece
Garlic - 3
Crushed black pepper - 1/2 Tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Tsp
Chilli Powder - 1/2 Tsp
Tomato -2
Puli - size of a half lemon
Asafoetida - 1/4 Tsp
Coriander leaves - a bunch
Mustard seeds - 1/4 Tsp
Fennel seeds - a pinch
Cumin seeds - a pinch
Oil - 2 Tbsp
Water - 2 cup
Salt - to taste
Cooking InstructionsCrush the shallots, ginger and garlic. Heat oil in a pot and splutter mustard seeds. Add fennel seeds and cumin seeds. Add the asafoetida, crushed shallots, ginger and garlic. Saute well. When onions start to turn transparent, add turmeric powder and chilli powder. Mix well. Add the crushed black pepper and salt to taste. Add quartered tomatoes. Make a paste of puli in water and add to the pot. Add the rest of the water. Bring to boil. Simmer for about 10 to 15 minutes. Add the coriander leaves. Serve hot with rice.
