Brown chickpeas soaked overnight-100 gm.
Raw banana-250 gm or tapioca-250 gm.
Turmeric powder-1/4 teaspoon
Chilie powder-1/2 teaspoon
green chilies- 2
ginger 1 piece
salt, grated coconut, and curry leaves
cook the chickpeas and cut banana or tapioca with turmeric powder, chili powder, green chilies, ginger and salt. Grind the grated coconut with 1/2 teaspoon jeera. Add the ground coconut to the cooked chickpeas and cook. When cooked saute mustered seeds and dry red chili. Add curry leaves and serve hot.
This is an ideal food for the working class. Further, in north Kerala, whenever a death ocurs in a family, in the mourning period, the inmates take rice only once a day, and they take this type of puzhukku regularly.
