Kalan Recipe

Ingredients 1 medium Raw banana
2 cups Slightly sour curd (Natural Yoghurt)
1 cup grated coconut
4 Green chillies
2 Red chillies
1 Tsp Cumin seeds
1 Tsp Mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds
2 TBsp Oil
Salt to taste
1 Tsp Turmeric powder
Cooking InstructionsGrind the coconut with cumin seeds and green chillies. Beat the yoghurt in a bowl and keep aside.
Peel and cut the raw banana into cube sized pieces. Cook the banana with 1 cup water, salt and little turmeric powder till it becomes soft. Add the ground paste. Simmer on a low heat for 3 minutes. Add the yoghurt and simmer further for 2-3 minutes. Do not boil.

Heat oil in a small pan and add the mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, red chilli and curry leaves. Stir for a minute in low flame and mix it in with the cooked banana. Serve hot.
