IngredientsParippu (Lentils) – 1 cup
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds, crushed – 1 tsp
Garlic clove, crushed – 1
Grated Coconut – 1/2 cup
Whole red chilly - 3
Curry Leaves - a few
Salt to taste
Oil as needed
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Cooking InstructionsWash and cook lentils(dal) with enough water, salt and turmeric. Grind coconut with little water, garlic and cumin seeds. Once the dal is well done, add ground mixture to dal along with curry leaves and cook in simmer. Heat Oil in a pan and splutter Mustard. Add thinly sliced shallot and saute till light brown. Then add whole red chilly. Then suddenly pour that over dal. Serve hot with rice and poppadom. Photos (Click to enlarge) :
