IngredientsTomatoes - 2
Green chilly - 3
Small onions - 4
Garlic pods - 3
Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Rasam powder - 1.5 tsp
Tamarind - 1 goose berry size small ball
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Coriander leaves - 1/4 cup
Mustartd seeds - 1/2 tsp
Salt as required
Oil - 2 tbsp

Substitute for rasam powder
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida (Kayam) - 1/4 tsp
Cooking InstructionsChop the tomatoes, green chillies, small onions and garlic. Heat oil and splutter the mustard seeds. Saute chopped onions till soft. Add chopped garlic and green chillies, curry leaves and saute for few minutes. Add the turmeric powder, pepper powder and either rasam powder or the substitutes (chilly powder, coriander powder and asafoetida). Saute for a few minutes and add tomatoes. Cover with lid and cook for 3 minutes. Meanwhile extract tamarind juice in half cup water. Remove the lid and add tamarind juice. Add one more cup of water. Cook for 7 minutes in medium heat with closed lid. Remove the lid and add coriander leaves. Cover and cook again for 5 minutes. Serve hot with rice.Photos (Click to enlarge) :
