Thondekai (kovakka) ¼ kg
Tomato 1 big
Green chili 2
Coconut paste ½ cup
Red chili powder- 1 tea spoon
Turmeric powder ¼ tea spoon
Coriander powder 2 tea spoon
Mustard seeds ¼ tea spoon
Dried red chili 3
Curry leaves few
Turmeric juice 2 tea spoon
Cut each thondekai into 4 pieces.
Heats tablespoon oil in a pressure cooker and add mustard, dried red chili and let it splutter.
Add onion and sauté well till golden brown in colour.
Add green chili and tomato sauté until tomato becomes soft.
Add the powders and fry well in oil. Add thondekai pieces and mix well for 5 minutes.
Add tamarind juice, curry leaves and salt.
Close the lid and cook for 3 whistle.
Remove the pressure and open the lid and add coconut paste, boil for a while and turn off the heat.
Thondekai curry is now ready. Serve hot.
