Vazhapindi Thoran / Banana Stem Thoran Recipe

Ingredients Banana stem (Vazhapindi) - 1 center piece
Grated cocunut - 1/4 of a cocunut
Garlic pods - 6 nos
Chilly powder - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves - 1
Salt - As Required
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Coconut oil - 1/2 tsp
Cooking InstructionsPeel off the outer layer of fiber from the 'Vazhapindi' and chop it into fine pieces. Wash thoroughly and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds and fry curry leaves and stir. Add the chopped 'Vazhapindi' pieces, turmeric, salt and chilli powder. Cook the above keeping it covered
Grind together the grated coconut and garlic. Add it to the cooked mixture and cook furthur. When the 'Vazhapindi' is well cooked, put off the flame and sprinkle coconut oil over the dish and mix. Keep aside for a while with lid closed, before serving.
